​​​Inspiration: I seemed to go through a stage where I kept seeing flames in slow motion, and I had also just reminded myself that I had a stash of gold leaf to experiment. It made sense then to put those two things together and see if I could get the gold leaf to mimic some flames. I love this painting, especially at Christmas as I have it near my fairy lights and then it really does look like the flames are flickering.
